Approximately $100,000 is given in cash grants year after year to nonprofit organizations that reinforce community, spirit, and equality. She was inspired to create this organization from her mother, who built Jackson Family Wines with brilliance and mindfulness.

Her intention with Seeds of Empowerment was to recognize the strength of women as leaders and overcoming the adversity sent their way. Julia Jackson and Katherine, her sister, are vintners are the winery, and their mother manages the enterprise as owner. In 1999 Cambria brought on Denise Shurtleff as the winemaker.
The wine industry as a whole, even in California, is often times lead and dominated by men. Jackson and her family have had to prove their skills while maintaining their authenticity. They understand that success can come without having to change one’s self to fit the ideas or perceptions of others.
Sonoma is the best place to obtain Cabernet varietal of wines in Julia’s opinion. Julia Jackson has been participating in this industry her entire life. If there’s a woman on this planet that truly knows her wine, it’s definitely Jackson. She did make a point to mention that Sonoma’s Vérité regularly receives superlative scores. Their three annual releases, La Joie, La Muse and Le Désir has been given a flawless score of 100 points from wine critic Robert Parker a total of nine times. She is revolutionizing the wine industry and setting the stage for other women to find success in their desired endeavors.
