The Success Story Of David McDonald

David McDonald was born and raised on a farm in northeast Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1987 and awarded a bachelor’s degree in animal science. Additionally, he is the recipient of the Wallace E. Barron Outstanding Senior award.

David McDonald OSI Group was very interested in utilizing resources to impact residents of Iowa state. Consequently, he was an active member of the Agricultural Entrepreneurship Initiative. In 2011, together with a group of students, he arranged a visit to OSI facilities located in China. One of the students who was in his company had been employed in the same place with him.

Upon his graduation, he began his career with OSI industries located in Chicago. For the time he has been in the company he has worked his way up to become president and chief operating officer.

Mr. David has also served in different capacities, for instance, he serves as Chairman of North American Meat Institute. He has been Independent Director at Marfrig Global Foods since 2008. Mr. McDonald, also known as Dave, serves as Director of OSI International Foods Limited.

McDonald explains that OSI group partners with its clients on the product they need to grow their businesses. As the consumers of the product become more sophisticated and demanding in their food, there is need to produce what they want.

OSI Group engages equipment manufacturers regularly so as to develop processes that assist in food quality and safety. Some the equipment include machines with built-in-X-ray equipment that is capable of detecting foreign particles. Some devices also help in monitoring growth of products.

The president of OSI Group also explains that they actively engage customers regularly. This interaction provides them a platform to share the solutions they need to provide or the concepts that they want to pursue.

OSI group acquired Baho Food, a Dutch manufacturer that specializes in foods, snacks and deli meats. Mr. David G. McDonald said that the addition of Baho Food to their OSI Europe business gave OSI a broader presence in Europe. The company’s portfolio of products and brands had complemented OSI’s current processing strengths. Their capabilities were also broadened to serve best the evolving needs of their customers.
