Bhanu Choudhrie Ventures
Bhanu Choudhrie was born in Kolkata, India. His father, Deendayal Choudhrie, was a prominent businessman, politician, and leader in the Indian National Congress party. He studied computer science at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and received an MBA from INSEAD in Singapore. He has been named one of the “Best CEOs” by The Economist for his role in developing India’s aviation sector. He is also a winner of the Ernst & Young National Business Excellence Award.
Bhanu, CEO and Founding Director of the Alpha Aviation Group, is excited about the prospects for India’s new airline, Vistara. Vistara, set up by the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, will be India’s first all-economy low-cost carrier (LCC) and the country’s first airline to be wholly owned by a foreign airline.
Bhanu Choudhrie is an extensive travel enthusiast who has traveled extensively worldwide and has visited more than 30 countries. A former Indian Air Force officer is an experienced aviation professional and has more than 28 years of experience in the aviation sector.
Bhanu Choudhrie is also the Chairman of Alpha Aviation Group, a company founded in 2006 to create an airline that would operate on a fully cost-based model. Alpha has since evolved into a group that incorporates three other companies – Alpha Airways, Alpha Airways Cargo, and an oilfield services company.
Alpha Aviation was named one of the “Top 50 Companies in Asia” by Asian Business magazine in 2012. The company also received recognition at the Asia Largest Private Company Awards in 2013, awarded by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.
Bhanu Choudhrie was named one of The Economic Times Top 50 Indian Leaders at India’s 50th anniversary year in 2012. According to Bhanu Choudhrie, the “private sector” best describes his company.
